Brunswick County Commissioner Frank Williams officially files for re-election

[December 4, 2023] — BOLIVIA, N.C. — Brunswick County Commissioner Frank Williams, a Republican who represents District 5, officially filed as a candidate for re-election in the 2024 election today.

“Serving the county where I grew up is both a tremendous honor and a great responsibility, and it is a job I take very seriously,” said Williams. “Thanks to our fiscally conservative leadership, Brunswick County has one of the lowest property tax rates of any county in North Carolina. We’ve, built a strong rainy-day fund that has weathered multiple storms, including Hurricanes Matthew, Florence, Dorian, and Isaias. We direct our resources toward critical priorities like public safety and public education. We are steadily expanding our water and sewer infrastructure, and we’ve successfully enhanced our economic development and job recruitment efforts. Additionally, our County has won multiple awards for financial reporting and transparency, received clean audits year after year, and maintained a strong credit rating.”

“While I’m proud of our record of common-sense conservative leadership, there is still work to be done – particularly given our status as one of the fastest-growing counties in the nation,” Williams added. “Moving forward, we must review and update our development ordinances to protect our quality of life as our County continues to grow. We must continue to provide the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office with the resources they need to keep our communities and schools safe. We must work with the Brunswick County Board of Education to ensure that our schools have adequate, safe facilities. We must continue our efforts to recruit good, high-paying jobs to our county. We must continue expanding our water and sewer infrastructure to accommodate our county’s growth. Finally, we must do these things while remaining vigilant about ensuring that Brunswick County never becomes an over-taxed, over-regulated place like those so many new residents moved here to escape.”
