One of the Highlights of Last Week: Meeting Debbie Lee
Last week, one of the highlights of my week was the opportunity to meet Debbie Lee (pictured at right while speaking at the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce’s Veterans Day Breakfast). Debbie is the mother of Marc Alan Lee, who was the first Navy SEAL killed in Iraq.
I had the opportunity to meet and talk with Debbie at three different events over the course of three days last week. In the aftermath of her son’s death Debbie founded America’s Mighty Warriors. The group’s mission statement is: To honor, thank, support, and encourage the troops and their families and remember the sacrifice of my “Mighty Warrior” Marc Alan Lee, the first Navy SEAL killed in Iraq. To accept the challenge from his last letter home and “pass on the kindness, the love, the precious gift of human life, through random acts of kindness” that will impact and honor our military, the fallen and their families for their selfless service and sacrifice.
Debbie gave a very passionate, sincere talk at the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce Veterans Day breakfast in Leland on Friday. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room at the end of her talk; if so, I certainly don’t see how.
I salute Debbie’s commitment to honor her son’s legacy, and I hope to meet her again at some point.
