Commissioner Frank Williams to seek re-election in 2020
[May 18, 2019] — Brunswick County Commissioner Frank Williams officially announced that he will seek re-election in 2020 at the 7th Annual Commissioner Frank Williams Spring BBQ on Saturday, May 18, 2019.
“Brunswick County is in strong shape,” said Williams. “We have one of the lowest tax rates in North Carolina. Our annual general fund debt service actually decreased between 2013 and 2019. We have a strong bond rating, and our finance department has won multiple awards for transparency and financial reporting. Thanks to a healthy fund balance, we were able to withstand the extreme financial pressures created by Hurricane Florence.”
“We have a fiscally conservative board and a top-notch staff that adheres to our board’s conservative budgeting philosophy — but we can’t take that for granted,” Williams added. “That’s why we must work to keep the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners in the hands of common-sense fiscal conservatives who will resist the temptation to try to be all things to all people.”
