Small business owner Frank Williams officially files for re-election as Brunswick County Commissioner from District 5

LELAND, N.C. – Small business owner Frank Williams officially filed for re-election as a Brunswick County Commissioners on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.  Williams, a Republican, was elected in 2012 in his first run for public office.  He represents District 5, which covers most of northern Brunswick County.  While Brunswick County Commissioners represent districts, they are elected in a county-wide vote.

“Brunswick County has experienced tremendous growth over the past decade, and that proves we have a good thing going,” says Williams.  “Growth presents both opportunities and challenges, and it is critical that we exercise the common-sense conservative leadership required to preserve the very reasons we are proud to call Brunswick County home.”

“We must ensure that we have adequate infrastructure to meet the increasing demands that come with future growth,” Williams added.  “We must work to recruit more private-sector jobs and strengthen our small business community.  We must support our law enforcement personnel as they put themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe.  We must support our schools and our great community college. And we must do all of this while keeping our tax rate as low as possible.  We live in a great county, and we need vision to keep us on the right path.  That’s why I am running in 2016, and I respectfully ask citizens for their vote and support.”

Frank Williams grew up in the northern Brunswick County community of Northwest and is a 1988 graduate of North Brunswick High School.  His first leadership role came as a teenager, when he served as a Patrol Leader in Leland’s Boy Scout Troop 265.  Williams attended North Carolina State University, where he earned a B.A. in Communication.  He owns and operates Pioneer Strategies, a marketing communication firm he founded in August 2001.

Williams takes an active leadership role in the community, having served on the boards of directors of Communities in Schools of Brunswick County, the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce and as president of the Leland Area Rotary Club.  He has also served on the Brunswick Community College Small Business Center Advisory Committee, chaired the Boy Scouts’ 2010 and 2011 fundraising breakfasts in Leland and serves on the Executive Board of the Cape Fear Council of the Boy Scouts of America.  In August 2013, Governor Pat McCrory appointed Williams to the N.C. Commission on Volunteerism & Community Service.

An active voice for Brunswick County’s transportation needs, Williams represents the county on the Wilmington Metropolitan Planning Organization’s transportation advisory committee and serves as chairman of the Cape Fear Rural Planning Organization’s transportation advisory committee.  He serves on the N.C. Association of County Commissioners’ legislative goals committee and general government steering committee and represented Brunswick County as a voting delegate at the association’s legislative goals conference.  Williams serves on the N.C. Leadership Council for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocate.  He was a member of Class 14 of the Brunswick Sheriff’s Citizens Academy in the Fall of 2013 and is an active member of Northside Baptist Church.
